The Fixtures And Fittings Your Conservatory Needs
When you sit down with a Clearview consultant to bring together your new conservatory together, the conservation will at some point turn to fixtures and fittings.
To define them both, fixtures are usually items which are attached, or fixed, to the extension, while fittings are items which aren’t attached to the extension.
They’re hugely important elements of any conservatory design as they can help establish the character of conservatories, add decoration and make them as functional as they need to be. An absence of the right sort of fixtures and fittings could prove detrimental to the design.
To help you classify exactly what they are, each of the below items can be categorised as either a fixture or fitting…
- Light fittings
- Plug sockets
- Units (shelves, cupboards)
- Fixed furniture
- Blinds
- Mirrors
- Sofas
- Lampshades
There are various other fixtures and fittings that will come under discussion, and they won’t be overlooked by our team as we want all of the conservatories we supply to fulfil every possible requirement of our customers.
Without a doubt, the furniture, blinds and lighting you choose for your conservatory are three of the most important areas to focus on.
Starting with furniture, we are a big advocate of rattan furniture due to the long-term durability it offers, and the fact that it is fade-resistant and amazingly easy to clean. Do the sit down test too to check that any armchair or sofa you’re considering buying is comfortable enough.
When it to comes to the window blinds you choose, measure up all of the windows in the conservatory first to ensure of a perfect fit. You will find blinds in pretty much every conceivable colour and pattern, so base your choice of colour / pattern on the kind of colour scheme you want to project indoors.
Lastly, there’s your lighting. You won’t be able to use the conservatory past a certain time of the day if you’re unable to properly illuminate the space. Integrated spotlights are a possibility if the ceiling perimeter has an internal pelmet that they can be housed in, or you could use a chandelier as a major focal point and striking lighting solution.
If you have a look at our Living Spaces page, you will be able to spot the different types of fixtures and fittings chosen by customers that have had their conservatory fitted by Clearview.
