Bi-Fold Low Threshold
Low level thresholds increase the ease of access for everyone involved. An optional outer and inner ramp can be added on to the threshold to further enhance the accessibility for wheelchair users.
Style does not come at the expense of security...
A fundamental feature of our bi-folding door is the multi-point locking system. The lock engages at several points and in several directions into a robust lock, which keeps the door sash firmly fixed into the door frame.
We add extremely tough double glazed or triple glazed units to the doors to make them phenomenally strong, virtually impossible to break and highly energy efficiency. They are made with security in mind, just like all our products. Tested cylinder locks are housed by high security master handles to see off outside intrusion.

We can’t be accused of selling you short in terms of door options...
With all bi-fold doors, configurations can be manufactured in arrange of sizes, colours and configurations. This minimalist style of bi-fold door could be used internally to connect a room with an orangery or conservatory, or you go choose from our 7 panel bi-fold door to create a large opening to your garden.
Our most popular colour finishes and a host of other shades...
The colour options for bi-fold doors are as varied as the configuration options and your first choice will be whether to opt for a sublimated woodgrain finish of Walnut, Rosewood or Oak, or a powder coated colour finish which gives you a wider array of possibilities.
Dual-colour finishes are, as the name suggests, are one colour on the inside and another on the outside so that you can complement both your internal décor and outdoor space with the most appropriate shade.
The finer details can often make the biggest difference...
Most configurations of bi-fold door will involve the use of three different types of handle. Pass doors and integrated French doors will require a master handle which will house a cylinder lock and will be used to engage the multi-point locking system when the bi-fold door is in the closed position.
Each bi-folding section will also entail the use of both a D-handle and an intermediate handle. The latter is uses to release the folding panes from the door frame when opening and, of course, re-engage them when closing. A D-handle is used to push or pull the folding panes as appropriate. Within our hardware range we offer both contemporary and traditional master handles which are colour matched by the intermediate and D-handles.

If you have any other questions our team is on hand to help, or you can visit one of our showrooms for more advice.
What are bi-folding doors?
Bi-folding doors are extremely popular for homes across the North West.
Bi-folding doors are a type of door made up of multiple panels (usually between two to eight) that are hinged together and fold in a concertina style when opened. They are designed to smoothly slide and fold to one or both sides, creating a wide opening and allowing for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
These doors typically operate on a track system at the top or bottom, enabling effortless movement and maximising space utilisation. They are often used to connect interior spaces with patios, gardens, or outdoor areas, offering unobstructed views and permitting abundant natural light to enter the home.
Constructed from various materials, bi-folding doors come in different styles, sizes, and configurations to suit different architectural designs and preferences. They enhance the aesthetic appeal of a property while providing practical benefits such as improved ventilation, easy access, and an enhanced sense of openness and connectivity between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
What should my bi-folding doors be made from?
The choice of material for your bi-folding doors largely depends on your specific preferences, budget, and the desired characteristics for your home.
Known for its durability and strength, aluminium is lightweight and requires minimal maintenance. It offers slim sightlines, allowing for larger glass panels, and provides excellent thermal performance.
UPVC (Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride) is a cost-effective option that requires minimal maintenance. It offers good insulation and soundproofing properties while being durable and resistant to rot and corrosion.
When choosing the material for your bi-folding doors, consider factors such as aesthetics, maintenance requirements, thermal efficiency, durability, and your budget. Consulting with a reputable home improvement company, like Clearview Home Improvements, can help you select the best material for your North West home.
How energy-efficient are bi-folding doors?
Bi-folding doors are engineered with an emphasis on energy efficiency.
Our double or triple glazed units are made of high-quality materials designed to minimise heat transfer, effectively reducing energy loss.
The incorporation of double or triple glazing helps create a thermal barrier, preventing excessive heat from escaping during colder seasons and reducing heat infiltration in warmer weather. This design not only regulates indoor temperatures but also aids in cutting down heating costs.
Additionally, the frames of our bi-folding doors are crafted using materials known for their insulation properties, such as aluminium or UPVC, which further enhance their energy efficiency. These materials contribute to minimising thermal conductivity, ensuring that the doors maintain a comfortable indoor environment throughout the year.
Our bi-folding doors can significantly improve a home’s energy efficiency by reducing draughts, thereby lowering energy consumption in homes throughout Preston, Bolton, Warrington and other locations throughout Lancashire and Cheshire. Their ability to create a well-insulated barrier makes them a valuable addition to homes seeking to optimise energy usage while enjoying the benefits of natural light and open spaces.
What security features do bi-folding doors have to keep my home safe?
Bi-folding doors are designed with a keen focus on both aesthetics and security.
One of their standout security features is the multi-point locking system. This system engages at multiple points and in various directions, ensuring that the door sash is firmly secured into the frame. This robust locking mechanism significantly fortifies the door against forced entry.
Moreover, the doors are fortified with exceptionally durable double or triple glazed units, enhancing their strength and preventing break-ins. The sturdy materials not only bolster security but also contribute to the doors’ energy efficiency in your Lancashire or Cheshire home.
To further elevate security measures, tested cylinder locks are integrated into the doors, housed within high-security master handles. This comprehensive security setup acts as a deterrent against intrusion attempts.
How can I customise my new doors?
When it comes to customising your new bi-folding doors, the possibilities are extensive.
Firstly, the configurations of these doors offer versatility—ranging from minimalist styles connecting internal rooms to orangeries or conservatories, to larger 7-panel options that create expansive openings to the garden. Each configuration is available in various sizes, colours, and arrangements, accommodating different preferences and spatial requirements in your North West home.
Regarding colours, the choices are abundant. Opt for sublimated woodgrain finishes like Walnut, Rosewood, or Oak for a natural aesthetic, or explore a broader spectrum through powder-coated colour finishes. The option for dual-colour finishes allows you to blend indoor and outdoor aesthetics seamlessly.
Moreover, the handles can also be customised. With a range of contemporary and traditional handle designs available, colour coordination across master, intermediate, and D-handles ensures a cohesive and stylish finish to your bespoke bi-folding doors, emphasising both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Can I use bi-folding doors in a conservatory?
Bi-folding doors are an excellent choice for conservatories, offering versatility and enhancing the overall appeal of the space.
Bi-folding doors can seamlessly connect the interior of the conservatory with the outside environment, creating a harmonious flow between indoor and outdoor areas.
Their ability to fold and stack to one side allows for maximum opening width, providing an expansive view and ample natural light within the conservatory. Additionally, bi-folding doors offer flexibility in terms of configuration, enabling you to open up an entire wall for unrestricted access to the outdoors during pleasant weather or close it off for insulation and privacy during colder months.
The integration of bi-folding doors in a conservatory not only adds a touch of elegance but also elevates functionality, creating a versatile space that can be adapted to suit various purposes and weather conditions.
