Prior to the Installation: The Planning

A bit of planning goes a long way towards making everything go without a hitch. A starting point will be an initial site survey at your house. This is essential for a seamless installation.

Further down the line, the full survey is carried out, involving lots of measuring, pinpointing any sticking points and ensuring the work is good to go.

At this point, we’ll know if planning permission or building regulations approval needs obtaining. In the event that it does, Clearview will tell you how to get it organised and assist accordingly.

If your project requires planning permission or building regulations approval, don’t worry! We’ll guide you through what’s needed and ensure all necessary approvals are in place.

Your installation timeline will be dependent on what’s being installed, whether it be windows, doors or a living space and our order books, and it will be indicated to you early in our discussions so you know how long things will take.

Why an Initial Site Survey is Done

We hold off providing a quote until we have carried out an initial site survey as it helps us ascertain what the installation will need to entail, get some rough measurements, and gather specific info about the house. It’s then possible to give you an accurate door fitting cost, window fitting cost or conservatory fitting cost, avoiding you being kept in the dark about how much you’ll have to pay.

The Full Survey

Shortly after you’ve ordered, a date will be arranged for a full survey. That’s when precise measurements will be recorded by our surveying team and they’ll do the relevant site checks.

Whilst the measuring is taking place, the surveyor will keep an eye out for any challenges to overcome, such as site accessibility or compilations that may impact construction so that nothing gets in the way of us getting the job done properly.

Securing Required Approvals

Certain home enhancements are subject to planning permission or building regulations approval. Nobody likes red tape, but rules must be adhered to and we’ll always offer a helping hand.

Clearview knows the guidelines extensively and can manage the organising of documentation. Being compliant is crucial and will prevent you upsetting your local authority.

Ultimately though, it is your responsibility to abide by planning and building laws – we can only advise as much as possible. If it means sorting Planning Permissions, Building Regulations, Build Over Agreements, Management Company Approvals, Party Wall Act Agreements etc. don’t ignore it.

During the Project: What to Know

We’ll turn up at the designated time, importantly, and conduct the work with efficiency. Each fitter will inform you of who they are and do some last-minute checks to ensure that things can proceed.

Keeping everyone safe is of utmost priority to us and we ask that pets and young children do not occupy the work zone.

Surfaces will be covered in dust sheets so that they don’t get dirty and you can leave it to us to tidy up prior to our departure – keep your hoover in the cupboard!

Starting Checks and Intros

We employ the friendliest staff, who will be polite and treat your home like it were their own. A thorough explanation of how the project will progress will be given to you before work gets underway.

They will look over the product/s to check if everything is okay in case of any issues that could interfere with completion of the assignment.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the installation take?

That will very much depend on what product type you choose to have fitted. A conservatory can take roughly around 8 weeks to complete if it is subject to planning permission and building regulations. Upon completion of the base, there could be a 4-week pause until any framework is started to allow it to dry and for manufacturing purposes. The construction and fitting of the structure can take between 7-14 days.

It’s a quicker process for window and door fittings, but the quality remains the same. Usually, we can install 4-5 windows into brickwork within a day, but it may take longer if render is needed or we experience any problems. Sliding sash windows entailing box sash removals normally takes a day to organise a couple of windows. Half a day should suffice for a residential door, with a bi-folding door ordinarily finished in a full day. No project is ever the same, so timescales can differ from job to job.

Will I need to be present during the fitting?

You’re not obliged to be at home whilst we’re working, but it’s useful if you are around in case we have any questions or need clarification. When performing a conservatory installation, power, water and welfare facility access will be needed. Before your installation gets underway, we will have a chat and discuss it all and plan a schedule that suits you.

What pre-installation preparation should I do?

It would be helpful if you could ensure there is somewhere suitable for us to park our van and we’d also recommend informing your neighbours about the installation. Please keep the work area clear for us, removing anything fragile as well as any curtains and blinds that could get in the way or become dirty. Cables and doorbells may also need relocating if posing a hindrance. Let us know if parking is restricted or if a permit will have to be arranged.

What level of aftercare will I get?

You can put a call into our aftercare team for the duration of the 20-year guarantee. They will efficiently deal with your request, committed to delivering outstanding customer service. If a lock isn’t functioning correctly or one of our doors is sticking etc., log the problem with us immediately so that we can get a service engineer out quickly to take a look.
