Clearview’s Handy Guide To Energy Efficiency

Just days into her Premiership, former Prime Minister, Liz Truss, informed the country that she would be putting a freeze on the energy price cap, so that it remains at £2,500 a year.

The move was a welcome one for householders as the price cap was expected to rise to £3,500 next year.

The people at Which?, the consumer group, say that the freezing of the price cap will see homeowners save £1,000. But is that enough for you? Just last year, the price cap was almost half of the £2,500 figure.

If you have worries about managing to afford your energy bills over the autumn and winter, help is out there, and Clearview also has some energy-saving advice to bring down their cost.

Shorten your showers

It’s nice being stood under a hot shower when the weather starts to get cold, but the longer you stay there, the more it will cost you.

Just a couple of minutes less in the shower will be a money-saver, and health experts will tell you that five minutes is the ideal showering time for your skin anyway.

Dry your washing outside

Untypically for Britain, this summer was one of the driest in years, and if the rain stays away for much of the next few months, it gives you a chance to use your washing line more than you may usually do in autumn and winter.

It won’t cost you, like it will if you place wet clothing on your radiators or stick it in the tumble dryer. Did you know that condensation can also be caused by the moisture created from clothes being dried indoors?
