Ideas To Make Your Windows And Doors Look Spook-tacular This Halloween
The countdown to 31st of October has officially begun. With the scariest night of the year just around the corner, it is now the perfect time to get into the spirit of everything Halloween, starting with ensuring your home is Halloween-ready.
Embrace this unique day by adding some fun touches to your windows and doors that will be sure to bring a smile to even the most grumpy of neighbours.
Create (or buy!) an autumnal wreath
October is usually when the leaves really start to look beautiful, so why not use them as decor for Halloween? If you are feeling crafty, watch a YouTube tutorial on how to make your own wreath. Add pine cones, dried flowers and fruit for a boo-tiful creation.
Otherwise, there are lots of options of where to buy wreaths from with a quick Google search. Handmade or not, an autumn-inspired wreath will ensure your door is ready to welcome trick-or-treaters.
Give your entrance a spooky touch
Spruce up your doorway with pumpkins of varying sizes. You can find them at most supermarkets this time of year. It’s recommended to carve pumpkins about one or two weeks before Halloween so they still look their best for the big night, so plan accordingly.
Whether you carve a toothy grin or prefer to add a more demonic face, your pumpkins will make the perfect addition to your home’s exterior.
Don’t forget to switch out your regular doormat and replace it with something a little more on the spooky side. A quirky mat will not only bring the Halloween spirit in full force, but it will trap dirt from shoes and keep the inside of your house clean. It’s a win-win!
Light it up
Dial up the spooky ambiance with red, green or purple coloured lights around your windows. Lighting can set the tone and so it is a great way to add an ominous feel to your home.
You can also make the most of celebrating Halloween with some fun novelty lights in shapes of ghosts, skulls, pumpkins and anything else Halloween related. Scatter lanterns on window sills and in your front garden for an extra glow.
