How To Measure Up Your Windows And Doors For A Fitting

We are continuing to take orders for new windows and doors from customers, if you have an interest in buying some, but for the moment, we cannot visit your home to measure up for them. 

Hopefully, that will change soon. In the meantime, what you can do to help us get on with all the planning and preparation involved in readying your new windows and doors for a post-lockdown installation is to measure up for us. 

We can assure you that measuring is quite easy, as you will discover when talked though how to do it by a member of our team, online or over the phone. 

It wouldn’t be realistic to expect exact measurements and we don’t need them to be precise any way – some rough sizes will be sufficient. 

Here’s a step-by-step guide to both measuring and securing the right kind of windows and doors:

Windows

• We need to know the height and width of your windows. 
• When measuring both the height and width, go brick-to-brick and take the measurements in millimetres, centimetres or inches. 
• After accepting a quote and once the lockdown ends, one of our team will come to take exact measurements. 
• Decide if you would like UPVC or aluminium windows.
• Decide on a window style. 
• If you want a window style like the one you already have, send us a picture of your current windows. 
• If you want a new window style and have seen a specific style you like, send us a picture of it. 

Doors

• We need to know the height and width of your door.
• When measuring the height, go brick-to-brick, and when measuring the width, go brick-to-floor, taking the measurements in metric or imperial units. 
• Decide if you would like a UPVC, aluminium, composite or solid core door.
• Decide if you want the door to inwardly or outwardly.
• We need to know if the door is hinged on the left or right, when viewed from the outside. 
• If you want a door style like the one you already have, send us a picture of your current door.
